In Acts 2, Peter stands before a crowd in Jerusalem, many of whom had witnessed or at least heard about Jesus' crucifixion just weeks earlier, and he makes a bold, unmistakable claim: Jesus is alive, not just spiritually, but physically; He is undeniably alive!
The ascension of Christ is one of the most profound, yet often overlooked moments, in the life of our Lord. We tend to dwell, rightly, on the cross and the resurrection; however, the ascension of Christ is treated more as a footnote or an after thought. It is the crowning movement of Christ's eathly ministry and a decisive act for our salvation.
This Scripture opens not in triumph but in uncertainty. The resurrection has happened. The tomb is empty. Jesus has appeared to His disciples on two occasions, and yet here they are again ... fishing. In spite of everything, Peter gets a second chance.
There are moments in life when everything we believed seemed certain suddenly feels shattered. Expectations collapse. Hope grows dim. Faith feels fragile. In these moments, we need to remember that the Risen Christ is with us on the road, no matter how long the journey.
